Many congratulation to Doug, organist for Ss Simon & Jude Church and the Benefice Choir, who reached the grand age of 90 this week!
During this Sunday’s service (26th February, 2023), led by Rev. Ian, Doug’s organ playing was as wonderful as ever, his fingers and toes nimbly playing the keys and pedals with a dexterity the rest of us could only wish for!
Churchgoers and members of the Choir joined together afterwards for the celebrations, which included a birthday cake, tea and coffee, and the singing (unaccompanied for once) of a rousing rendition of “Happy Birthday!” Doug responded to all the good wishes by sharing some key thoughts on reaching this extra special birthday.
