“Christ is the Judge of All Merit”
After the glories of a late September Saturday, when blue skies and fluffy white clouds raced across the sky, and lawn mowers could be heard buzzing their way over overgrown lawns, today dawned chilly, grey, dark and blustery!
Even so, there was a healthy congregation at Ss Simon & Jude to welcome today’s Priest, Father Paul Barrow (retired). As always, it was a wonderful service, during which his sermon was based on the Gospel reading, Matthew 20: 1-16, the Parable of the Workers of the Vineyard. Having skilfully guided us through the true meaning of this parable and its application to the modern day, he concluded that Christ alone is the Judge of all merit and that in the eyes of our Heavenly Father, we are all equal, despite our uniqueness.
