Ss. Simon & Jude Church, Cockshutt
Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labour or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendour was dressed like one of these. (Luke: 27)
Flowers are an important contribution to our worship here at Ss Simon & Jude Church; fundamentally they remind us of God’s wonderful creation whilst adding to the sense of His presence here with us.
They also provide opportunity to give thanks for all the blessings He has bestowed upon us, whether gifts and talents, celebrations of life events or remembering the life of a dearly loved friend or relative.
This month, the flowers were given in both celebration and commemoration. The altar flowers were given in thanks for the celebration of a wedding anniversary, whilst the flowers on both war memorials marked significant dates for both world wars; the Declaration of War (WW1) on 4th August 1914 and VJ Day (WW2) 1945.
Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. (Ephesians 4: 32)
