From the Wardens, Ss Simon & Jude, Cockshutt – May 2023

We held our Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) for 2022-2023 at the end of April; the full reports can be read here.

In early May, we celebrated the coronation of King Charles III; although a service wasn’t scheduled for us here, we decided, with the blessing of Rev. Anne, to hold a Coronation Songs of Praise.  It really was uplifting!

Thursday 18th May was Ascension Day and we joined with worshippers from across the Deanery at St. John the Baptist Church, Ruyton XI Towns; it’s quite a sight seeing so many Vicars sitting in the pews along with the congregants!  At the time of writing, we are preparing for Pentecost (28th May) when we focus on the flames of the Holy Spirit entering the disciples, thus signifying the beginning of the Church.

The performance of Eliza Grey, in Cockshutt on 19th May, greatly raised our awareness of Dementia.  Thanks to Mike, our Dementia Co-ordinator, for organising it all!

The Churchyard is looking very tidy, thanks to everyone’s hard work; the wildlife area is flourishing, and the flora and fauna seem to be enjoying their quiet retreat!

Please remember, everyone is welcome in our Church, whether you wish to join us for Sunday Worship, sit quietly in prayer or simply visit.  It is open every day.

With Our Best Wishes,

Cathy and John
