Autumn Newsletter from Petton

Dear All,

I hope very much that you are keeping well.

It has been a busy few weeks.  We have said goodbye to our dearest Maureen and I have taken my first service as Church Warden.

I would like to thank all who attended our Remembrance Service.  Not only did we honour those from Petton who lost their lives in the 1st and 2nd World Wars, but I felt honoured that you joined Mary and I that cold, dark evening.  Special thanks to Mary, Alf and Harry for their readings and moments of remembrance.

I can’t tell you how much I am looking forward to our Carols by Candlelight Service on 23rd December!

We have news too!  Petton has a new village notice board kindly purchased by the Parish Council so that we can bring you Church and Parish Council news, but also offer a space for community announcements.  Our heartfelt thanks to Penny and Alastair for installing our notice board and to Cockshutt-cum-Petton Parish Council.

But the most exciting news – our churchyard won gold!  This year’s Churchyard Scheme awarded Petton a gold certificate and an additional certificate for supporting wildlife.  Alf, John, Mary, Sandy, Rachel and Harry, you have done us proud!  Thank you so very much.

As the Winter looms, we have seen the addition of a hedgehog refuge.  Alf and I hope very much that we will see it become a warm and cosy home to our spiky little friends.  Fingers crossed!

So for now, I hope that you stay warm, healthy and happy and we hope to see you all at our festive celebrations.

Take care …

Claire xx
