Meres & Meadows Messenger
After a night of very heavy rain, the local lanes are flooded, but now the skies have cleared, and shades of Blue are peeping through massive, lumpy clouds. Most importantly, the sun is shining, and the Daffodils have begun to open. Clumps of golden Yellow flowers nodding in the faint breeze, intermingled with deep Purple coloured Crocuses can be seen in gardens and along the verges. How appropriate for this season of Lent and the anticipation of Easter Day.
The season of penitence and prayer is well and truly upon us and to help us on this journey towards Easter, Fr. Gareth Ingham will be leading the posts this month with his customary thoughtful and contemplative posts.
Christopher Jobson is continuing to keep us busy, and the month begins with his thoughts on St. Chad, Patron Saint of the Diocese of Lichfield, whilst his Treasures of the Benefice feature this month looks at the Cockshutt Eagle lectern.
Each month our local astronomer gives us an update on the night skies. God’s creation is all around us; with the dark evenings drawing-out and as we venture more and more outside, it’s only natural to look upwards; most of us need guidance on what we are looking at. Who knows what we might be looking at and give thanks for?
March is a busy month for Saints and in Britain we will be busy celebrating both Saint David and Saint Patrick.
As usual, all the favourites will be there, from Family Fun and Children’s Corner, our heritage and faith across the Christian Church and updates from our Parish Churches and Messy Church.
We have provided links for many of the posts, but if you would rather, simply go to the main Menu Tab across the top and click on whatever takes your fancy. We have a lot of content and rather than reproducing previous posts, we will leave it up to you to have a good browse and find out. You never know what you might find!
We would like to extend a warm welcome to all our overseas visitors to the Meres & Meadows Messenger and to all our visitors, whether at home or abroad, we extend a huge thank you for taking the time to visit us.
Finally, as many posts come in during the month, we update regularly. Please keep a lookout!
With our Very Best wishes for a reflective Lent and joyous Easter,
Valerie Cartlidge
