About 17 miles SW of Aberystwyth lie the remains of the Abbey of Strata Florida (Latin for “Vale of Flowers”). Colloquially known as the “Westminster Abbey of Wales” the remains of this once magnificent abbey was the final resting place for Welsh Princes.
It is a beautiful, peaceful place to visit and one where you simply feel at one with God’s creation. Close your eyes and rest awhile and you cannot help but feel the presence of the white-robed Cistercian monks quietly going about their daily tasks and prayer.
As we continue to hunker down during the cold and darkness of January, the blue cloudless skies, trees bursting with life and newly mown lawns as seen in these photographs remind us that Spring with its warmth and light, is drawing nearer all the time!
We hope that you enjoy looking at these images of Strata Florida and maybe pay a visit of your own.
