The Colemere Nativity – December.

Along with mistletoe, plum pudding and all the other things that belong to Christmas, it is not complete without a Nativity play.  This year the children of the Sunday School and Young Church at Colemere delivered one in style for a large congregation.  The Christmas story was told with readings, poems, and the usual much loved Christmas carols.  The chancel had been converted into a stable for a very young Mary and Joseph to enter and be joined by angels, shepherds, and wise men.  The soloist who sang faultlessly unaccompanied is worth of special mention.  The prayers were sensitively conducted by Father Paul Barrow and the hospitality team provided refreshments with their usual efficiency.

The missing verse from O Little Town of Bethlehem well describes what happened at Colemere this morning (17.12.2023) “Where children pure and happy pray to the blessed Child, and faith holds wide the door, the dark night wakes, the glory breaks, and Christmas comes once more.”
